And both series' first two games are right there together in terms of my enjoyment and their quality, while I think both series' third game is noticeably weaker than the previous entries both within the context of their series and within the context of the two series compared. Really, I think the Crash series is 'better'/more my preference with its focus on platforming versus exploration/adventure, but I love both series. If I were to order the 6 games in my preference, it'd be something like this (right now): Crash 1 > Spyro 1 > Crash 2 > Spyro 2 > Crash 3 > Spyro 3. I prefer both first games' simplicity, art direction, challenge, and atmosphere compared to all of the sequel titles. I personally love a lot of the things that people find bring down the original CB & StD games. The "best" is probably Crash 2, due to its refined gameplay, a bit of diversity, but still a taut, focused, cohesive game.īut my favorite is probably the original Crash Bandicoot, with the original Spyro the Dragon following behind it.
